Weather Station

Angus has been recording the weather at Honeyoak since 1999 and in 2002 records began to be submitted to Met Eireann. Weather records are updated at   www.wicklowweather.com

These are pictures of the sun recorder, Sunshine records have been collected since 2003.

The glass ball magnifies the sun's rays and burns a hole in the special paper card.

When the card is removed after sun down the burnt area is measured to calculate how many hours of sunshine there has been that day.

Ground thermometers for depths 0.3m, 0.6m and 1.2m.

This Stevenson Screen has 2 thermometers for current temperature one of which is kept wet so that humidity can be calculated. It also has a thermometer to record the maximum temperature and one to record the minimum temperature since the last reading the previous day.
